New Covenant Presbyterian Church is a confessionally-Reformed Presbyterian (PCA) church in Abingdon, Maryland. We are committed to preaching and teaching the Word of God faithfully and regard the Westminster Standards as one of the very best summaries of the scripture’s teachings. Our worship is historic in style. We strive to model it according to the patterns and instructions presented in the Word. Compositionally, we are a vibrant multi-generational congregation. In terms of our focus, we have a passion for missions and, in the last decade, have successfully planted two sister congregations.
- Begun in 1979 as the only PCA church in Harford County.
- Pastor Larry Wanaselja (1979-1999)
- Interim Pastor, Chaplain John Sackett (1999-2001)
- Pastor David Barker (2001-Current)
- Additional growth through New Covenant Christian School, and Homeschool Umbrella and Co-operative
- Planted two sister churches in Harford County: Living Hope Presbyterian Church (PCA) in 2010 and Forest Hill Presbyterian Church (PCA) in 2015
A brief history of our Associate Pastorate:
We hired a man from our number, Don Dove, to be Director of Youth and Family in 1999. He left the world of business to enter ministry and served our congregation while slowly working his way through seminary. Upon ordination, he served as our Associate Pastor, still leading our middle and high school youth groups, until he felt the call to pastor his own church. By God’s blessing we were able to provide that call through our own church plant. We sent off Rev. Don Dove and 10+ core families in 2010 to form Living Hope Presbyterian Church just across Harford County in the Aberdeen/Havre de Grace area.
Rev. Andrew Gretzinger was then called in 2011 to serve as Associate Pastor. Over the years, a growing number of our congregation felt led to plant another church in Harford County. Rev. Jason Van Bemmel, who was once a Ruling Elder at NCPC, was called as our Associate Pastor and sent with another 10+ core families in 2015 to form Forest Hill Presbyterian Church. Both sister churches have been particularized and are growing in number and faithfulness, God be praised! In the summer of 2016, Pastor Andrew Gretzinger led a mission’s trip to Northern Ireland. Beginning in the preparations for this trip, and continuing through the team’s time serving there, relationships were forged and seeds were planted in Andrew that grew into a call to missions. In the months that followed, his call was affirmed, and in January 2017 moved to Northern Ireland to plant a Presbyterian church.
Now we turn our attention to the man who will next be called to serve our flock. Even after planting two churches, God has grown our number of young families. We have a strong desire to educate and support our families, to strengthen Christ’s church now and in the generations to come. To support this ministry, the following description has been created.

Boyce Memorial Presbyterian Church, Kings Mountain, N.C.
Boyce Memorial Presbyterian Church (ARP) is seeking a part-time, salaried intern. The main purpose of the internship is not for Boyce Memorial ARP Church (BMARP) to get ministry accomplished through the interns. Though this will happen, the main purpose is to build into our interns so that they may better understand God’s calling and the ministry, and thus become better equipped to serve the church in the future. There are many things seminary training can do, but it cannot offer the hands-on-training, one-on-one discipleship, and individual evaluation that working in the local church can. This program is a long-term investment in the global church’s health and well-being.
Any Christian man over the age of 21 who is heading toward pastoral ministry, whether in the local church, church planting, campus ministry, foreign missions, as a chaplain, etc. Although, one aim of the internship is to help the intern assess his personal calling, maturity, and giftedness for ministry, the program is not intended as “something to do” while the intern figures out what’s next in life. It is for young men who are truly sensing God’s call to some form of ministry of the Word. As needed, the Pastor will select intern candidates to recommend to the Session from among a pool of applicants. The intern candidates must then be approved by the Session. The salary range is $7,000-$10,000. For complete information about this program, go here.
- Fill out an application (e-mail Pastor Nick Napier at: info@boycememorial, in order to obtain an application). Fill it out, and return it electronically to the same e-mail address.
- Must agree with our Statement of Faith. Interns should understand that the training they receive and the reading they are assigned will be in broad agreement with the Westminster Standards and other Reformed Confessions and Catechisms, with the intention and hopes that we are raising up Presbyterian and Reformed ministers.
- Must be a member in good standing of a Reformed and evangelical church or be willing to unite with BMARP if not.
- Regularly attend Sunday worship services and other programs during the length of the internship.
- Attend or teach a Sunday School class and be a part of at least one Sessional Committee during the length of the internship.
- Interns need to be already accepted or enrolled in an approved seminary program.
- Be open to considering pastoral ministry in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, include ng the possibility of coming under care of First Presbytery.
