Question and Answer

Location & Directions

The 2019 GPTS Spring Theology Conference will take place at Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church in Simpsonville, SC. The main sessions will be in the sanctuary, and other special events will take place in classrooms throughout the building. Catered meals will be served in the Gymnasium. The Conference bookstore will be housed in the Gymnasium as well. The church facility is easily accessible from I-85, and there is ample parking for conference attendees. There are also many restaurants nearby to the church. Please note that pre-conference activities will take place at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, 200 E. Main St. Taylors, SC 29687.

Food & Lodging

Conference attendees may register for a catered meal on Tuesday (Dinner) at the point of registration, though this is optional. Rather than offer a catered meal on Wednesday, we are hoping to invite a number of local Greenville Food Trucks to "camp out" in the church parking lot for the lunch hour. Their prices will be similar to what we have charged for lunch in the past. There is a wide variety of restaurants on Woodruff Road and nearby to the church. Conference attendees are responsible for their own lodging arrangements, though we are happy to help!

We have made special arrangements with the following local hotels: Drury Inn, Hampton Inn, Wingate, and Best Western. Please contact Mrs. Kathleen Curto (registrar@gpts.edu) or call the Seminary (864.322.2717) for more information.

FAQ

When is the 2019 Conference?

Tuesday, March 12 - Thursday, March 14, 2018

Where is the 2019 Conference?

The conference itself will be held at Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church in Simpsonville, SC. However, pre-conference activities will take place at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Taylors, SC. The GPTS Explore prospective student open-house will also take place at the Seminary. Other fellowship gatherings will take place at other locations, as indicated in our "Events" section.

How much does it cost to attend the 2019 Conference?

We try to make registration simple and affordable. Pricing for the 2019 Conference includes registration, but not the optional catered meal or lodging. We have made special arrangements with local hotels. See our "Food & Lodging" section (above) for more information.

The full pricing schedule is available on our Registration Page. There are special rates listed for students and their wives. Youth under the age of 18 years old are permitted to attend the conference free of-charge. The early-bird registration rate ($70) will expire after 2/1 (price jumps up to $85), and there is a final jump in price after 3/12 (to $100).

This year, we have dramatically reduced our rates because we have eliminated several unique registration categories (wives, student wives, youth over 12, one-day passes) and discounts. This change simplifies the administrative work of our team members (Miss Brenda Benson and Mrs. Kathleen Curto) while lowering the overall cost of the conference for the vast majority of conference attendees. Please contact advancement@gpts.edu for more information.

Where can I watch the Tuesday and Wednesday evening sessions online?

You can view it on our website at gpts.edu/livestream. You can also open it up in your Internet browser by clicking this link.

Where will I stay overnight?

Conference attendees are responsible for their own lodging arrangements, though we are happy to help! We have made special arrangements with local hotels. See our "Food & Lodging" section (above) for more information.

What do attendees usually wear?

While some of us will be wearing the clothes we would usually wear to church on Sunday, most of us dress down a notch (or two). Most men will wear button-down shirts and khaki slacks, but some men will attend the conference in polos and jeans. Most ladies wear modest slacks, skirts, or dresses, with similarly modest tops. Be sure to bring footwear that is comfortable for walking, as you will be moving between the sanctuary and the fellowship area quite a bit during the week.

For both men and women, keep in mind that our group will be modest and comfortable. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@gpts.edu.

How can I register for the 2019 Conference?

You can register online until Monday March 11, 2019. Go here to register online!

You can also register for the conference on-site at Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church. Register before February 1, 2019 for "Early Bird Tuition." Evening sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday are open to the public, and do not require registration.

What if I need to cancel my registration?

We'll miss you at the Conference! You can cancel a registration and receive a refund of your payment minus a $15 non-refundable deposit, if you cancel on or before February 23, 2019. Cancellations may be requested by contacting Miss. Brenda Benson (bbenson@gpts.edu or 864.322.2717 ext. 318). Requests for a refund after the deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

Yes. Registrations are transferable until Monday, March 11, 2019. You can make substitutions by contacting Miss. Brenda Benson (bbenson@gpts.edu or 864.322.2717 ext. 318). There is no cost for substitutions.

Who is providing the bookstore?

Reformation Heritage Books will be providing the bookstore this year. The Presbyterian Bookshop will have a small selection of GPTS-specific titles as well.

Will I be able to purchase recordings of the sermons and lectures onsite?

Yes. The Presbyterian Bookshop will be able to produce audio recordings of particular talks onsite, at $9 per CD (for an individual lecture).

You may also order a full set of Audio CDs or DVDs ahead of time ($50 if ordered by March 1, 2019). You may also order a CD containing MP3 audio recordings of the entire conference ($20 if ordered by March 1, 2019).

Please contact the Seminary's Media Director (media@gpts.edu) for more information.

Will there be a banquet this year?

Details are yet to be determined for the Spring Scholarship Banquet. All proceeds from the banquet benefit our Student Scholarship Fund.
