Missions Midweeker
What is a Missions Midweeker?
Twice per year, Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary hosts a limited cohort of pastors and church leaders, from Tuesday-Thursday, for intensive seminars designed to assist the church in fulfilling the Great Commission. This mid-week event is led by Pastor-Theologians and experienced leaders in International Missions. It is intentionally limited to a small cohort of men for the purpose of fostering fellowship, discussion, and mutual encouragement in making Christ known among the nations.
Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary is unwaveringly committed to form a nursery for missionaries to the nations, and to people destitute of the preaching of the gospel; in which men, both nationals and internationals, may receive that appropriate preparation which lays a foundation for their qualification for missionary work. The Missions Midweeker is designed to further that same commitment by helping to equip pastors and church leaders currently serving among local churches and presbyteries.
We will feature lectures and workshops led by Dr. Jonathan Master, Dr. L. Michael Morales, Chad Vegas (GPTS & Radius International), Brooks Buser (Radius International), and Greg A. (Global Serve International). We will briefly cover the history of missions among the Reformed church, the biblical grounding for the missionary task, and what we must do to create a missions-sending culture in our churches.
Why attend a Missions Midweeker?
We encourage you to attend so that you are encouraged to lead your own church in faithful obedience to the Great Commission. We desire to answer a number of your questions and to mutually encourage one another in our ministerial task. What are the various types of missions work? Why should your church be involved in reaching unreached language groups? What are the challenges in reaching some of the most difficult places on earth? How do you foster a church culture that raises up, trains, sends, and supports missionaries well? What resources exist to help your church with proclaiming the gospel to every tribe, tongue, and nation? What roles can members in your church serve in assisting missionaries that are sent?
We will also spend time together at GPTS and in beautiful downtown Greenville. We will share meals, pray together, and build friendships among one another.
Where does the Missions Midweeker occur?
Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (GPTS), 200 E Main Street, Taylors, SC 29687. There will also be fellowship events held in downtown Greenville – location TBA.
When does the Missions Midweeker occur?
The Missions Midweeker occurs two times per year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Registrants are expected to participate in the entire schedule beginning from 4:00p.m. on Tuesday until noon on Thursday. The Missions Midweekers for 2025 are scheduled for April 1-3 and September 16-18. Space is limited, so apply soon.
What is the application process?
You should apply only if you are able to attend the entire Missions Midweeker. If your application is accepted, please note that it is conditional upon your full participation in the schedule. Due to the limited space at each Missions Midweeker, we ask that each church send no more than three men to any Missions Midweeker. This allows more churches to participate in each Missions Midweeker. Priority is given to applicants who have not attended a Missions Midweeker in the past.
How much does the Missions Midweeker cost?
The cost to register for the Missions Midweeker is $300 if booking a single occupancy room, and $200 if booking a double room with two queen beds. The registration fee covers the cost of the event, and includes lodging, breakfast at the hotel, dinner on Tuesday, lunch on Wednesday, and some free books on missions.
If you have any questions, please email events@gpts.edu. If you are planning to come, don’t wait to apply – these slots will fill quickly.
