We have become aware of three fast days being called by Presbyterian and Evangelical bodies. We encourage you to consider joining various members of the Seminary community in concerted prayer and fasting on any (or all) of these days. Information about these days of fasting and prayer may be found below, in order of date:
OPC Presbytery of the Southeast Day of Fasting & Prayer – 4.8
The Moderator of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church Presbytery of the Southeast has called for a day of fasting and prayer to be observed on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, from sunrise to sunset.
PCA/ARP/EPC/ACNA Day of Fasting & Prayer – 4.10
The administrative organs of three evangelical denominations (the Presbyterian Church in America, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and the Anglican Church in North America) have formed an ad hoc ecumenical committee to call on the 550,000+ members of their churches to set aside Friday, April 10, 2020 as a day of fasting and prayer. The current Moderator of the General Synod of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARP) has likewise encouraged the ARP to participate. More information may be found in the official notices, here and here.
Calvary Presbytery Day of Fasting & Prayer – 4.13
There will be an invitation-only (to comply with city and state health directives) prayer service at Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville on Monday, April 13, 2020. This service will be streamed live online, and the call to fast and pray from home is to everyone. You can find more information at spcgreenville.org/fast-pray. Our own Dr. Pipa will be participating in this event. He has produced a resource essay on fasting and praying in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been made available online here.
